BTEC in Circus Arts

An engaging, inspiring and challenging subsidiary diploma aimed at those learners who wish to explore further into the world of physical theatre and circus as an art form and a stepping-stone into circus as a career.
The 2015/16 BTEC in Circus running at Circus Central is a level 3 Subsidiary Diploma (60 UCAS credits = 1 A Level) at Circus Central is a one-year programme of study, delivered in two main sessions per week; Wednesday evenings 6-9pm and Saturday afternoons from 1-4pm, with additional sessions set in project based blocks. 2015/16 Students will have an option to extend the BTEC to a second year to gain a BTEC Diploma ( = 2 A Levels).

Core Modules include Something for everyone!
Performing to an Audience; Developing Physical Theatre; Developing Styles in Clowning; Circus Manipulation.
The BTEC lead teacher is Claire Harvey.

For those learners applying to university, this qualification contributes 60 UCAS points to your tally.

Prospective students for Future BTECS must be 16 or over (including adults), and have an A*-C in English and Maths at GCSE level. Recognised prior learning is also taken into account.

Fees cover training sessions, intensive periods, performance opportunities (totalling 360 Hours). Fees also include free open training through Club Circus Central on a Monday evening from 7-9pm. 2016/17 fees to be announced when course is published.

How to Apply
Suitable candidates would be people with recognised prior learning and skill in a performing arts especially in Circus, or have suitable physical preparation through other disciplines e.g. gymnastics, dance, physical theatre.
