South Tyneside Calendar

Club News

We were to announce our last circus sessions at Boldon School was in December 2011. This was necessary due to unsustainably low numbers at the club and despite our efforts, and those of the core group of young people, to encourage more to join.  With the project due to run for a further 4 months we have consulted with the project Partners and core group of young people about what to do including the possibility of relocating in the Borough. We have concluded that our focus and resources should be on the deeper development of skills for those who have shown real dedication, rather than starting from scratch with a new group. We look forward to our Summer 2012 Activities in South Tyneside. They will include free public workshops. More information will be posted on this website as events are confirmed.  If you want to join one of our other youth circus clubs they are running in Newcastle on Mondays, Whitley Bay on Tuesdays and Billingham on Thursdays.

Our Thanks!

Summer workshop We started with a splash in Boldon with fantastic shows by Spaghetti Circus from Australia. In Summer 2011 the Club performed at the Cookson Parade and Mouth of the Tyne Parade which was seen by hundreds of young people. We are proud to have one of our club members performing in Italy over new year 2011/12. We are pleased to see some of the group spreading their wings and coming to regional activities. We look forward to seeing club members at other Five Ring Circus activities in 2012. We would like to thank Boldon School for hosting the project between Summer 2010 and December 2011 and for all our artists and teachers involved. Most especially we would like to give special thanks to Vicki Mackley for her huge support as a volunteer and enthusiastic Circus Parent. Club members please remember you can come to any of the other clubs and you keep in touch on Facebook – visit our profile “Let’s Circus” and make friends.
